Lake Days

The lake behind our house is a place we spend a lot of time at during the summers.  It is just a hop, skip, and a jump away and it is peaceful.  The dogs can join us and they run and frolic and play.  They hop through the grass, jump into the water, and chase unseen creatures in the trees.

We also enjoy the activities at the lake.  We BBQ, camp, swim, float on rafts, boat, fish, toss around a baseball, and visit.  You can hear the distant traffic along a highway a few miles away, but otherwise, it is just you and nature.  It really is a calming place for your soul.

And, besides that, it holds memories for the children's childhood.  The fishing and the swimming and the shooting off $68.00 of fireworks that last merely minutes but we applaud and hoop and holler because it's fun.  The tasty food and chips dropped to the ground for the pups.  The bond fires to keep away the chills, the bug spray, and sunscreen.  A place to ride a four wheeler for the first time or the 100th time, and a place to test your 4-wheel-drive vehicle.

This is summer, and it is a mighty fine one at that.
