Weddings in 2014

2014 consisted of 5 weddings (including our own).


The wedding festivities began for us in April with my dear elementary friend in a beautiful conservatory with a glass gardenhouse on a rainy, happy day.

Kylie and I attended my coworker's sister's wedding in the gorgeous National Churchill Museum, with an outdoor pavilion reception that followed.

Mine and Keane's wedding came in June, on a rainy summer day, which turned out to be everything I could have hoped for.

Keane's nephew married his high school sweetheart in late September in a gorgeous setting of a hayfield field and a reception at a vineyard. 

My cousin married in early November on a beautiful sun-shining day that was joyous, family-filled, and lovely!

Nashville - Wedding Gift

Keane's best friend, Jared, and his dear wife, Melissa, took Keane and I on a vacation to Nashville as their wedding gift to us!  This happened in April, though somehow I am just now getting around to posting it.

The first place we made sure to go is Mellow Mushroom -- still our favorite eatery in Nashville!

We then checked into our hotel room and spent the evening on the main strip.  We went to Honky Tonk Central, Bootleggers Inn (our favorite) to meet up with our bartender friend, Brandon, who broke his non-drinking-streak to have a shot with us the guys, did a little dancing at the Coyote Ugly, and then saw our favorite waitress (and singer) Chassidy Staton at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, where we also met up with Keane and Jared's old high school classmate, Lucy.  We then listened to some music at The Stage and then ended the night at Legends and/or Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. 

The second day we had breakfast at Jack's Bar-B-Q.  It was delicious!  We then took a drive and saw the Parthenon and did a little shopping.  We had dinner at a place I cannot recall and then for the evening.  Wwe chose to stay off the Broadway strip and opted for some low-key bars where we played pool, shuffleboard, and visited, spending some good quality time in the sweet town of Nashville.  We then took a walk and listened to some music and some radical sports fans at The Row.  We later found The Slider House, and another bar, Losers Bar (it was either this or Winners Bar, and I think we made the best choice) where we talked until the night wasn't as young and our eyes were getting sleepy.

It was such a wonderful, perfect wedding gift and we enjoyed the trip, and all the laughter, and seeing all the women who "must work out." 

We had breakfast on Sunday at Ihop and made our way back home.

Selfies & SnapChats

We have so many capabilities at our fingertips, literally.  We can capture the here and now -- the very instants.  We can capture, and sometimes re-capture, save, and look back upon these moments.  Typically and obviously, we usually only capture the happy times.  The sad, mad, and hurt times are ones we would rather forget and leave behind. 

Aside from the stress and the problems, life is full of happy moments.  I think it is so sweet how we can save these moments in time.  I think it helps, or has the potential to, remind us of how sweet life is.  The gift of life is fragile and fleeting, and the smiles we wear or pass on are the monumental things in daily life.  It is the hope we have at every rising sun -- that our day will be fulfilling, productive, and happy.  If we could count the smiles we smile each day, how many would we have?

Do you remember yesterday's smiles and laughs?  Do you remember the ones you have already had today?

Capturing still moments in time is a blessing, and I cherish every selfie and snapchat that holds a place in my phone, and therefore my memory.  Because those pictures captured were once the very moment I was living in.
