5 & 6 Weeks

(Written October 24-31)

We found out about you at 5 weeks exactly.  The day following, I had my first spout of queasiness, and it hasn't left yet.  I feel sick almost all day long.  I haven't thrown up, and I don't expect to.  I am trying to snack every few hours and I continually drink water all day long.  I finally bought some ginger ale to try to help me get by for the next couple months.

I made an appointment with my doctor for two Mondays from now (I'll be 7 weeks, 4 days).  We will be getting an ultrasound, blood test, and going over the initial information.  Until then, I am reading What to Expect When You're Expecting and learning as much as I can, and taking in good nutrition rather than the soda and sweets (and beer) your momma used to indulge in regularly.

We haven't told anybody yet, so you're our little secret right now and it's fun.  Your dad calls me "mom" and he is worried about you.  Last weekend, you and I went to St. Joe to your big cousin's 3rd birthday party.  It was hard not telling anyone about you, although we did talk about what gender everyone wants/expects when I do have a child, so I knew they were talking about you.  It's funny because all the girls (Grandma, Aunt Kimberly, and your sister Kylie) expect/want you to be a girl, and the guys (your dad, Papa, Uncle Kollin, and brother Kaden) expect/want you to be a boy.  I think boys' sports are fun and boys' personalities are pretty cool.  With a girl, though, I would absolutely love to have a dark-haired beauty that I could dress up and paint her nails and teach her manners.

I didn't want to find out your gender.  I wanted to be surprised when you're born, but your dad said right away that he wants to find out.  He doesn't see any reason in not finding out and said it would drive him nuts.  I am okay with finding out, but he agreed that we could keep your name a secret so it will be new, just like you, when you're born!

Cravings: Nothing -- and by that I mean food really doesn't sound good to me.  Veggies (with Ranch) and water are really all that sound good to me.  Salads, string cheese, crackers, peanuts...this is about all that I've been eating lately.  Soups and smoothies actually sound good.  I bought some chicken noodle soup, jello with fruit, Ginger Ale, and some cereal, and all of this has helped me through the work week.

Aversions: Anything sweet.  And meat.

Symptoms: Sore and larger boobs, headaches, bloated, motion sickness, nausea, sleeplessness (waking up often throughout the night), less energy/motivation.

Missing: My appetite.

Break-down: While food hasn't sounded appetizing to me, I was craving a Southwest Chicken on a wrap for supper.  I prepared the last wrap, warmed up the amount of food I wanted, and while I was attempting to put it together, all of it slid off my plate and onto the floor.  I was so devastated that I shrieked, which scared Keane and he thought it was something more serious, and I ate simply a salad while I pouted.
