Eight months. You are the most beautiful eight-month-old ever. You are funny and silly, and best of all, you are happy.
You smile when I come in to get you from your crib, you laugh when we sneak around a corner to peek at one of us in the house, you love when we tickle you or make funny noises.
This month was huge. And it seriously is one of my favorites during your first year. You learned so much, you are developing a personality, and a bit of a temper, and I feel like I can communicate with you better, and that makes me feel very close to you.
Some milestones this month:
Your FIRST TOOTH (on 02/02/16) -- and your SECOND (02/12/16)!
We lowered your crib
Your first sickness
You make so many noises. You grunt and growl and scream and squeal. You don't babble much, and when you do, it's "babababa." That started on 01/18/16, right after turning seven months old. It started out sounding a little like "mama," but then it changed to sounding more like "baa baa." Lately, when you're crying and babbling at the same time, you're saying "dada," but you don't realize you're saying that yet. Just in the last couple of days you have been clicking your tongue. That's pretty cute.
The way you clap is adorable. You clasp your hands together and with your elbows sticking out, you rock your hands back and forth. You are learning to laugh out loud, so you really seem to enjoy that. You can tell you have a good sense of humor already.
You pull up on everything and always want to be standing. You can't stand on your own yet, though. You can crawl quickly when you want to get somewhere. You are so strong. You are able to pick up big and heavy items.
In the middle of this month, you seemed to lessen your stranger-anxiety. But then it returned. We have a lot of late nights with Kaden and Kylie playing sports. You do really well, it just sometimes throws off your sleeping schedule.
You sleep great, except for a few nights here and there you wake up and need a little comforting. Otherwise, you go to sleep between 7:30-8:30 and you wake up to nurse around 5:30-6:00, and you go right back to sleep on weekends and stay-at-home days until 7:30-8:30. You usually sleep with your butt in the air and your arms tucked under you.
You are so good with putting food in your mouth. You have been eating a lot! You love rice and oatmeal cereal, with bananas. You eat fruits and veggies and little pieces of things we are eating. You are still nursing great, about 5-6 times a day.
This month you got a yucky cold and we were afraid you were getting pink eye. We took you to the doctor, but they said you just had really bad congestion. A week later, after your daddy had a stomach flu, you threw up several times, and were very miserable. That next week you developed a pretty bad cough, so you went back to the doctor and you got Amoxicillin for a sinus infection. So it finally cleared up! I think because of all of this, you were a little extra snuggly this month, and perhaps that's why it is one of my favorites!
We switched your clothes to 6-9 and 9 months, and you are starting to wear size 3 diapers. You only weighed about 15 lbs when you went to the doctor both times this month. You had your first snow day this month! Your daycare was closed so Mommy stayed home with you. It was while you weren't feeling too well, so it was a great day to stay home together.
(Not feeling well)
(Enjoying some of Mommy's ice cream after going to the doctor and getting a flu booster shot)
(Before we lowered your crib mattress)
(Enjoying a breast milk pop)
(We rode in the big farm truck with Daddy to haul some cows. It was a bumpy ride, and you didn't really enjoy it as much as I did, and hoped that you would. But then again, you still hate car rides so I shouldn't have expected anything different.)
You celebrated your first Valentine's Day. It was a snowy, cold day, so me, you, and Daddy hung out inside and enjoyed our time together, mostly on the floor where you would climb up and play with us.
(Our delicious and beautiful Valentine's gift from Grandma McCoy!)
