Farrah's Five Month Update

5 Months!!!  I can't hardly believe it.  I believed four months, but five...five makes me think of six, and six is half a year, and I cannot believe you're almost half a year old already.

You learned so much this month.  You learned how to roll over, from back to stomach first.  You learned just how to make it work.  You hiked your little legs up and to the side, and over you went.  It only took you a couple days or so to roll back the other way.  You first rolled over from tummy to back on 10/28/15 (4 months, 14 days) and rolled back over from back to tummy on 10/31/15 (4 months, 17 days).

Not only that, but now you can sit up by yourself!!!  Your Aunt Kimberly and Grandma McCoy worked with you on this a lot over the weekend when we were all together, but you still needed a lot of support, but later that week, you did it all by yourself, on 11/12/15 (4 months, 29 days -- 2 days shy of 5 months).  I sat you on the ground and there you stayed.  I hollered quietly for your daddy and when he made it to the living room, you were still sitting!  Now you hardly will lay down.  If we put you in your bouncy seat or swing, you use your elbows to prop yourself up.  You have never preferred laying back.

You are also taking your socks off all the time.  You love to play with your feet, and you can now get them to your mouth.  You still absolutely love to look at trees.  You are really mesmerized by them.

One morning, your dad and I watched you laugh and play by yourself in your crib through the video monitor.  It was the cutest thing.  You would drag your lamb lovey that Grandma McCoy made you around your crib when you rolled and flopped around.

You definitely are laughing more and more.  You are also very alert and interested in what is going on around you.  I used to be able to entertain you just by making faces and talking to you, and while you still love that, you also want more.  You need toys in your hands and mouth.

You are still exclusively breastfeeding.  We have let you try the taste of some food here and there by putting some on our finger, but we are undecided as far as whether to feed you cereals and pureed baby foods, or wait until you have your pincer grip and can feed yourself table food.  You twirl your fingers through my hair or your own when you are nursing.  You are also not sleeping through the night.  I will post more about that separately.

You are as cute as can be.  What people comment the most about you are how big your eyes are and how alert you are for your age, as well as what a good baby you are!

I have been cuddling with you more, and you are adapting very well to your momma's needs!  You love reaching up and playing with dangling toys and this makes you laugh out loud with glee.  You also laugh and smile so big when you spot your Care bear piggy bank and your gold piggy bank near your rocking chair.

We put away all your 0-3 month clothes (and are passing them down to your cousin Adelyn).  You have been wearing 3-6 months, but after I rearranged your drawers, I decided you are too big for those, too.  You are now comfortably wearing size 6 months and 6-9 months, and are in size 2 diapers.  I'm not sure how you can be so low on the percentile scale, but in the appropriate, or bigger than appropriate, size clothing.  I love all your rolls though, dear!

(These three photos were after your 4 month shots.  Although they break my heart seeing your sad eyes and knowing you were in pain, they are still moments I want to always remember.)

(Your very first time sitting up.  You even stayed sitting long enough for Momma to get a picture!)

(Me and you helping Daddy on the farm.  Mommy had to put a heavy mineral feeder in the back of the pickup by herself just so Daddy could keep holding you.)
