Nashville, Day 2 of 4

We checked into our hotel at about 7:00 p.m. and set the alarm clock for 9:00 p.m.  The alarm clock, might I add, was all the way across our hotel room.  When the alarm went off at 9:00 p.m. and I was still sleepy, I literally got up every nine minutes for an hour and a half until I finally woke up enough to wake Keane up at 10:30 p.m. to get ready to go back downtown.

I call this Day 2 even though it was still Friday, the same day as Day 1, because after a nap and a change of clothes, it felt like an entirely different day.

We took a cab downtown and hit the strip of popular bars, which were full of people.

We went to Layla's first, and probably should have stayed there the rest of the night because it was the best bar out of the four we made it to that night.  The band playing was a "hillbilly" band, but to me they seemed more like a rock band.  They had greasy hair, danced around with the microphone, and screamed some great songs.  We went there because Brandon from Bootleggers had told us about this band and their mohawks, so we wanted to check it out.

We then went to The Stage.  When we came to Nashville two years prior, we attempted to go to The Stage but could not find an open table.  This place was still extremely packed, this time from the stage to the back.  I assume at least, because I couldn't see that far back.  We were shoulder to shoulder, face to face with everyone, and after the smell of vomit and my claustrophobia kicked it, I was ready to get out and find another bar.

We hurried out of there and went back to Whisky Bent Saloon, where the fiddler from earlier in the day was long gone. We hung out in the back and enjoyed the atmosphere and a little more breathing room.

We made our way across the street to Wanna B's, a karaoke bar.  As soon as we got there, we signed Keane up to sing Zac Brown Band's Colder Weather.  After listening to karaoke singers sing for about an hour, Keane wanted to change his song to Bon Jovi's Wanted Dead or Alive.  Believe it or not, when I told the girl that Keane wanted to change his song, she said that she didn't even have him on the list...the list of like 6 people!  He would have sang so long ago had his name not been forgotten, or lost, or deleted.  I put him on the list and after a long 6 more songs, he finally sang!  I loved it, he wished he hadn't changed his mind on songs, and then we left.

By this time it was 2:30 a.m. and the bars had already called "last call" and the bands were done for the night.  Because all the bars were closing at 3:00 a.m., we got a cab and headed back to the hotel.

To be continued...
