My birthday was special today, made special by those I love. When I got home from work my husband had finished wrapping gifts that the girls started the night before, using 3 different wrapping papers and using them all up. He had baked the cake and prepared things for supper: tenderloin, mashed potatoes and gravy, garden picked green beans, and fried okra as an appetizer. Keane and the kids got me white kitchen canisters, a pair of The Ove’ Gloves, white and Black Country kitchen hand towels, and an organic pillow!
My mom got me a desk name sign that says “Chaos Coordinator,” a Gaelic press, and a fall hanging wooden pumpkin with a “B.”
My friend, Miranda, at work whom I share a birthday with her son brought me balloons, a Mountain Dew, and a “Home Grown” T-shirt she sells.
Several weeks ago, Keane and I spent an evening in Grafton, Il, as a birthday outing as well.
I feel differently about birthdays as of late, like the whole “it’s just another day” mentality. But I was blessed this birthday with wishes from my very closest loved ones and a wonderful, special evening with our family as a whole.
