The Saturday before Easter Sunday was our planned day for our family Easter celebration, but it turned out to be rainy all day. Therefore, photos and an outdoor egg hunt was cancelled. We hid eggs in the living room for Kylie, Kaden, and Kollin to find, and they, as well as McCoy, were presented with Easter baskets from Grandma and Grandpa. We had a delicious Easter dinner together and visited until night fell and kids got sleepy.
When we woke up Sunday morning, the Easter bunny had visited our house and left a jelly bean trail from the kids' beds into the living room to their Easter baskets and new sports items which included a basketball for Kaden, baseball for Kylie, and rubber baseball plates for both.
McCoy was able to have an outdoor Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday. He was the perfect age for it. He'd point to an egg laying in the grass and run to put it in his basket. He almost had his basket full and was obviously seeing the eggs in which we pointed out, but his desire to grab and collect them had gone cold. Instead, he dumped the eggs from his basket onto the grass, and moved on to the next fun thing he could find to occupy himself with. We played with chalk on the sidewalk and when I say "we," I mean Kimberly and I, because McCoy only wanted to hold all four pieces rather than share or color with them.
Our cousin, Julie, her husband, Howard, and son, Isaac, came over to visit and to see McCoy (and us, of course) while he was in town.
Keane and I went fishing on Easter even though the wind blew strongly. We kept about 8 of the fish we caught (I only caught 2) and fried them up for supper. I sure do love this time of year.
As always, it was so incredibly great to spend time with my beloved sister and nephew and to celebrate a beautiful time of the year that serves as a reminder that Jesus died on the cross for us and was risen so that we could be forgiven and have an everlasting life. Happy Easter to all.
