Lil' Pumpkin

Happy Birthday, McCoy!

In his first year he has overcame a lot.  From surgeries to recoveries, from his dad being deployed and returning, and all the typical first year experiences!  It's one of the neatest things to see my sister's child: a lil boy who resembles her and learns from her.  And to watch him grow this past year has been amazing.  Each time I see him he has learned something new and I can't wait to see him each chance I get.

Just today I heard that he has learned to push his little bicycle over to the gate keeping him out of the kitchen, climb up on the bike, and try to climb over the gate.  Little boys -- you can't keep them from engineering up something!

He had a "Our Lil' Pumpkin" birthday party.

Happy Birthday, Keane

Happy Birthday, Keane!

Last month he turned 35 (I'm a bit behind on posts but I can't leave this one out).

We celebrated.

I am thankful for the five birthdays I have been able to spend with him so far.  I think his smile gets brighter and his years get fuller each and every year.

We celebrated by having a chicken dinner, birthday cake, and gifts.

I spent my morning, instead of getting ready, decorating the end of the hallway (which I saw on Pinterst here) and was so pleased with the outcome!

He got an early birthday present through a small scavenger hunt around the house...from his pillow to his deodorant, from the cat to the front door, and finally to the gift hidden in the closet.  It was the new hunting backpack that he's been wanting, one that also holds a gun or bow to free your hands.  He needed it early so he could use it hunting the weekend of his birthday.

I made him a cake (another Pinterest-inspired idea found here).

Happy birthday, dear.  I love you.

Twenty-Five.

I missed my birthday on my blog.  It was one month ago today actually.  I love birthdays and I want to remember this one; I want to remember them all.  This year I can say that I do feel older, and wiser.  I feel more comfortable.  I'm happy.  I feel like this may be my best year yet.

I had a great birthday.  I received beautiful flowers (real ones and $2-bill ones), I received Bare Minerals make-up, some awesome Puma Faas 350 running shoes, pink light-up knocks for my arrows, and some other great gifts.  Thank you for them all!  And thank you to my man for baking his first cake ever for my birthday!  He also took me out to a really fancy (and delicious) restaurant, CC's City Broiler -- the kind of restaurant that drinking a bottled-beer rather than wine felt a little out-of-place and I had to learn to face my fork down on my plate to represent that I was finished eating.  We then hustled to the movie theaters to watch Lawless after dinner.  Great, great movie by the way!  One of my favorites of all times to be honest.

I wanted to list 25 fun facts about me.  Truth be told, this was a harder task than I anticipated and hence the reason I have yet to post this.  So you have 14 things to read about me and a few photos to enjoy.

Until next year... I will be here, enjoying being 25 years old!

1. I recently started a small business named Rustic Co. selling painted antlers and soon will be selling other rustic items!  Check it out at: www.etsy.com/shop/rusticco

2. This year I've decided autumn is my favorite.  I am loving the cooler weather, lit candles in the house, the cooking and baking, football, the colors of orange and browns, and the upcoming holidays.

3. I have been working at my current job for one year.  In one year, I've learned a lot about the legal system and basically how to do anything my job throws at me...okay, not always.

4. I am unsure where I hope to be one year from now, though.

5. I've always been a bit indecisive...and I still am.  When Kylie asks me what my favorite color is...I still cannot decide between deep purple, sage green, turquoise, or orange.  It depends on the day, and what item I picture in my head.

6. I'd say 50% of my closet's items are hand-me-downs from my sister.  Whoever put a negative connotation on hand-me-downs obviously didn't receive any from her.  I love them!

7. I google at least 10 words a day to check the spelling or meaning -- I maybe just googled "connotation."

8. My lifetime goal is to write a book, a successful and meaning one.

9. I like airplanes -- probably because my dad does.

10. I unfortunately do not have a green thumb like my mother -- can that still be taught?

11. I purchased my very own vehicle this year.  I drove my 1998 Ford Escort ZX2 (or the "blue blur" as Keane called it) since I was 16 until I traded it in February for my white 2009 Chevy Equinox Sport.

12. I like country and alternative music, and singer-songwriters.  Also, on some mornings I like to listen to the Christian station to start my day off right.

13. Taco Bell is my favorite fast food.  Keane and I ate at Five Guys once though, and it was as good as it could get -- or I was really hungry that day.

14. I found it really hard coming up with 25 random things to write about myself.
